Welcome Neva Brown. Today I am showcasing her book “Casey’s Courage.”
Just as accomplished horse trainer Casey Mason, Ph.D. feels she’s earned her independence, disaster strikes and her life is forever changed. She must put her life back together bit by piece. The obstacles seem insurmountable, making her wonder if love really can conquer all. Her metamorphosis into an independent, self-confident woman that ignores old taboos and embraces what she truly wants is compelling.
Billionaire Jordan Spencer III inherits Spencer Ranch where Casey, the riding buddy of his youth, still lives. Now Casey is a beautiful, accomplished woman who starts creeping into his thoughts. Bitter experiences from the past put him off having a serious relationship with a woman, yet he and Casey have a special connection. As she struggles with her rehabilitation, he micromanages her life with quiet efficiency until he pushes her past some invisible line. He soon learns more about himself than makes him comfortable. Coming to terms with the past so he can move on to the future takes lots of soul searching, as his precious Casey slips in and out of his thoughts and dreams
CASEY’S COURAGE is about a young woman at a crossroads in her life. Will she take the road marked by her father, the road that leads to a professional career, or the road her heart urges her to take? Love, abiding for more than a decade in its secret place, demands its place in the sun. It is the golden thread that runs though the tapestry of this tale, a tapestry of ranch work, world-scattering events, social relationships, and personal introspection. Not only Casey but Tres also is at a crossroads. His wounds don’t show but they run deep and need that miracle love can provide to heal. CASEY’S COURAGE is about letting go of the past and embracing the future.
How did you come up with the idea?
Far as long as I can remember my favorite pastime has been “let’s play-like.” During one of the many times I waited for my husband to get out of surgery, I saw a young man with a halo brace to hold his neck stable while he walked with a walker as a therapist held on to a belt around his waist. A tiny seed of an idea began to sprout in my mind. So, tapping into my life time of ranching experience, teaching experience, being a good listener, and people watcher, I began my vicarious journey with Casey Mason and Jordan Spencer III (Tres) to create CASEY’S COURAGE. Moreover, I believe love is the ultimate in the human experience and I wanted to write about it.
What makes a perfect read for you?
I love smooth writing that lets me slip right into the story, engages my senses and emotions so I feel I’m right there with the characters experiencing what they are experiencing.
Favorite or most wished place to write?
What’s the one word you use that makes you blush when using? Any? Some authors have a word or giggle phrase that causes them to ponder using it.
I taught high school students for many years, so I really don’t blush at words, I just don’t use some words. There are no “no no” words in CASEY’S COURAGE even though it is a sensual romance.
Anything you want to tell us about the book?
CASEY’S COURAGE is about a strong woman that not only survives and thrives after a horrific horse wreck, she steps away from all who would organize her life for her to find her true self. She no longer sees herself as a world-class horse trainer, a person with a Ph.D., a potential college professor, or just the daughter of Jake Mason, manager of the Running S renowned horse operation. She becomes independent Casey Mason, a woman comfortable in her own skin and ready to give and receive love without reservations with her one true love, Tres Spencer.
Alright–now that we’ve had a peek at Neva and CASEY’S COURAGE, how about a giveaway.
